29 Nov Why I Sell: The Conversation That Changed Everything

How one bold mentor reframed my beliefs about selling, service, and sharing good news — and why I’m offering a rare opportunity this December.

A few years ago, I had one of the most uncomfortable and transformative conversations of my life.

I was speaking with someone who truly excels in branding, marketing, and sales. It didn’t take him long to read me.

Within minutes, he said something that stopped me in my tracks: “AZ, you don’t hate selling. You hate the idea of being the hunter… and your prospects being the hunted.”

Boom! He exposed a belief I didn’t even know I was carrying.

And then he hit me even harder: “If you stay trapped in that disempowering belief, don’t blame anyone but yourself when you don’t achieve your big goals.”

I like straight shooters, especially the ones who tell you the truth that stings but frees you.

But he didn’t leave me there.

He fixed the belief right in front of me. He said: “As long as what you offer is good news — transformation, growth, advancement, opportunity, clarity — you are not a hunter. You are a messenger of good news. A liberator. A guide. A catalyst.”

Then he added: “If you truly believe your ideas, services, and programs help people, it is selfish not to share them. Don’t make decisions for people. Give them the opportunity. Let them decide.”

That conversation changed the way I show up online and in my conversations.

It changed the way I teach.

It changed the way I build The A to Z brand.
