Grant Gardone and Gary Brecka Buried the Hatchet and Joining Forces Again

I’ll admit it—I was one of the fans disappointed to see Grant Gardone and Gary Brecka airing their grievances on social media.

But this morning, I’m genuinely happy to see them side-by-side again—burying the hatchet and joining forces to continue making a difference in the world of human health.

We all make mistakes. What truly matters is whether we take responsibility and fix them quickly. These two gentlemen just did that, and I applaud them for it.

Here are three key lessons every entrepreneur can learn from this:

1. The negotiation before the negotiation is just as important.

We’re not experts in everything—and that’s okay. Gary Brecka, a world-class expert in human health, openly acknowledged that he should have involved a lawyer when negotiating his original deal.

A reminder: not all lawyers are created equal. If the deal involves equity or securities, bring in a securities attorney. The right guidance at the right time can make or break your future relationships.

2. Strive for deals that feel win-win, not just look like it.

Something I always share with coachees and workshop participants: even if a deal appears win-win and everyone’s smiling at the table, ask yourself—will they still feel good about it next week, next month, next year?

After the ink dried and when they settle down, if someone felt rushed, pressured, or uncertain—even if that wasn’t your intention—they might return to renegotiate. Or worse, they might walk away bitter and never do business with you again.

Grant may have believed he was offering a generous deal, especially given his brand’s reach and ability to scale—something Gary didn’t yet have. Intent matters, but perception sticks.

3. Praise publicly, resolve privately.

Taking conflict to social media before trying to handle it directly or through mediators is rarely the best move.

Thankfully, both Grant and Gary took responsibility for airing their grievances on social media. They recognized the impacts of doing that on their brands, businesses, customers, and even their fans.

Seeing them in the video below, smiling and talking it through, was great. That’s leadership in action.

Wishing them both the best as they tackle one of humanity’s greatest challenges: optimizing health at scale. 💪
