Gavin Newsom and Charlie Kirk Conversation and The Leadership Lessons We Should Learn

When you lose badly, the least you can do is reinvent yourself as soon as possible!

The 2024 election was a blood bath where the Democratic Party lost all swing states, the Presidency, and both Houses.

I’m an INDEPENDENT without affiliation to any party, but I firmly believe that strong opposition is important for the GREATER GOOD and a vibrant democratic society.

Not sure whether this is the start of the Democratic Party reinventing itself. One of the faces of the Democratic Party, Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, surfaced with a Podcast, and his first guest wasn’t another superstar from his party or even an Independent. He crossed over and invited another superstar from the opposition, Charlie Kirk Executive Director of Turning Point USA.

I COMMEND both sitting to talk with grace! Talking the other side ISN’T WEAKNESS.

I’ll soon record a video to share some LEADERSHIP LESSONS that can be drawn and applied to our personal brand, team, or business.

In the meantime, let me give you a glimpse of what I’ll be covering:

1. None of the past empires crumbled by forces from outside. In most cases, they were dethroned because of cracks from within the leadership- Infights, corruption, and so on- that led to their downfall. When oppositions stop talking, things may turn violent, if not immediately, at the end of the day, leading to internal cracks. As the saying goes, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” When you’ve leaders like these gentlemen who don’t shy away from TALKING to the other side, you don’t allow internal cracks to form…

What kind of corporate culture should you create and nurture to avoid division and causing a crack that may make your team or organization vulnerable to fall?

2. Is Gavin reinventing himself? What is (are) the grand strategy (s) he might have adopted? What we just witnessed is one of the initiatives to implement that strategy- launching a podcast. We could also see one of his implementation strategies, an audacious move inviting a leader from the RIGHT as his 1st guest.

How can you choose BOLD STRATEGIES (not goals, wishes, tactics, etc.) and, most importantly, translate the STRATEGIES into results by excelling at execution, tracking your progress, and measuring success?

3. Charlie’s den has been colleges and universities, debating with students and killing it. When you see him go to the lion’s own den & go toe-to-toe with a governor of the largest GDP state, you know he is a masterful communicator.

The question I’ll be raising is: How did he get here? Gifted? By chance? Or is there a principle he employed that anyone can follow to attain mastery, not just in communication but also in any other areas you seek mastery?

If you’re a democrat, how did you receive this gesture from the potential 2028 presidential candidate? If you’re a Republican, how did you find Charlie’s acceptance of the invitation and his performance?

Stay tuned!
