How to Communicate and Get Response from High-Performers and Influencers

You must be mindful and intentional when reaching out to high performers and influencers.

First, they’re very busy, and their plates are full.

Second, whether they’re aware of it or not, they have some filtering mechanisms that have helped them protect their precious time and energy.

That is why you shouldn’t expect them to chit-chat with you as you do with your peers and friends.

You should stand out and differentiate yourself to draw their attention and potentially be taken seriously.

What makes communicating, relating, and partnering with high performers and influencers is that they may have doorkeepers. They may not be the ones handling their social media, email, and phone. Even if they do, they may be getting lots of messages and can’t respond to all of them.

There is no guarantee, but at least if you’re mindful and intentional, you may get a response.

By all means, avoid small talk and chitchatting, such as:

1. Hi

2. How are you?

3. How was your day?

Let me use an easy reason. Let’s say that you are reaching out to an influencer to let them know that one of their books benefited you a lot.

Using a couple of statements, tell them that you read their book (mention the title) and the key takeaways. And then, end the message by saying thank you for writing this book or something like that…

Most authors would respond to such a thoughtful message. They may at least say thank you!

But, if you reach out by greeting and saying hi or asking them how they are doing, don’t expect an answer. It may even irritate them…

Of course, the more serious commitment it takes from them, the more thoughtful and intentional you have to be when you reach out.
