30 May Finding Meaning in the Age of AI
If AI can do what gave us purpose, what’s next?
1. “Publish or perish” — that was the rule when I was a researcher.
2. Later, as a software engineer, it was simple: “Code or crash.”
3. As a trainer and coach: “Write a book or stay invisible.”
4. In commercial real estate and business brokerage: “Know your numbers or be left behind.”
Each time, what we did defined who we were.
But today, AI can publish faster, code better, analyze deeper. The very skills that once gave us relevance are no longer exclusive.
-IBM predicts 40% of the average workday could be automated soon.
-Goldman Sachs estimates 300 million jobs are at risk of AI disruption.
And yet — AI cannot dream, empathize, or create meaning.
A Thought: “Meaning isn’t in what we do. It’s in why we do it.”
The real question now isn’t how to stay relevant — it’s how to stay meaningful.
AI can replace tasks. It cannot replace your purpose, your creativity, your heart.
👉 If AI took over your daily work, what would still give you meaning?
As AI reshapes the world, don’t just adapt — transcend.
Anchor yourself in what can’t be automated: your purpose, empathy, and vision.
